International Cooperation

Based at a research station on Spitsbergen in cooperation with the Norwegian Polar Institute in 1991, we pursue a wide range of international joint research in the Svalbard Archipelago and surrounding seas as well as the circumpolar regions of Greenland, the northern Scandinavian Peninsula, Canada, Alaska, Russia and Iceland.

We also participate in international joint research projects work with the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) and share information on polar science research in Japan and around the world with our joint researchers.
