ArCS Arctic Challenge for Sustainability Project

1. A project consisting of a combination of different types of research activities, including attendance to an international conference and summer course on Arctic topics (e.g. Arctic Science Summit Week, ASSW) and an Arctic-involved research institution visits for exchanging ideas and information within a period between two weeks and a month.

2. A project where participants conduct a field study in the Arctic and visit laboratories of co-researchers to analyze data and have discussions during the visit, lasting between one and three months.

3. A project where participants set up a new research group and international collaborative research and conduct comparative studies in different Arctic areas that aims at implementing research activities in novel fields. This visit lasts for several to ten months.

To collect information and build a network of people to acquire knowledge and technology after attending international conferences and training courses* concerning the Arctic held overseas. You are not required to give your own presentations when you participate in international conferences.

*In principle, these courses encourage wider participation by inviting public participation, etc.

*Participants for the middle- and long-term visits are expected to play a primary role in planning for such meetings.
