The IASC Network on Arctic Glaciology Annual Meeting was held in Niseko, Hokkaido, on January 21-24, 2025. This meeting has been held annually in various countries since 1994 to present and discuss research on glacier changes in the Arctic region. This was the first meeting in Japan. Approximately 60 researchers, including 47 from 15 countries (Fig. 1), gave 33 oral and 24 poster presentations over the three days and held lively discussions (Fig. 2-4).

In particular, in the special session on cross-cutting theme among IASC WGs, keynote speeches were given by Dr. Satoru Yamaguchi of the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience and Prof. Regine Hock of the University of Oslo on the theme of "Impacts of the changing land-based cryosphere on Arctic society". The social impacts of changes in snow and ice were enthusiastically discussed. On the final day, we conducted a snow excursion in the Niseko Mountain Range, known for its heavy snowfall (Photo 5). Guided by local mountain guides, the participants enjoyed the snow and mountains of Hokkaido. This meeting was financially supported by IASC, WCRP CliC, the Japan Tourism Agency and ArCS II Project.
