How to indicate support of NIPR in research papers

Please acknowledge in your papers, presentations and other publications, the support of National Institute of Polar Research (NIPR) if your research received it. The NIPR’s support includes General Collaboration Project, Project Research, Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition (JARE) and the use of facilities (or data, device, instrument, etc.).

Note: Please use the official name (i.e., National Institute of Polar Research, Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition) correctly and do not use ONLY an abbreviated name (i.e., NIPR, JARE). Putting an abbreviation together with the official name is possible.

Example for General Collaboration Project, Project Research

This study was supported by National Institute of Polar Research (NIPR) through General Collaboration Project ( or Project Research) no. ##-##*

* Please apply your project No. shown in General Collaboration Project List (in Japanese) or Project Research List.

Example for Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition (JARE)

This study is a part of the Science Program of Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition (JARE). It was supported by National Institute of Polar Research (NIPR) under MEXT.

Example for using facilities (or data, device, instrument, etc.)

This study was carried out using the facilities* of National Institute of Polar Research (NIPR).

* Please replace "facilities" with "data", "device", "instrument" or else, according to the matter used. However, if there is an instruction on the acknowledgement provided, please follow that.
