ArCS 1st Plenary Meeting has been held

Arctic Challenge for Sustainability (ArCS) project’s 1st Plenary Meeting has been held at the Miyoshi memorial hall in JAMSTEC Yokohama Institute for Earth Sciences on Wednesday, 25th November 2015, as a kick-off of the project.

There were 83 participants at the meeting. The principal investigators (PIs) from 3 activities and 14 research menus presented the background of their project (including the introduction of the previous studies) and implementation plan in order to share the purpose of the ArCS project.

Each presentation was followed by active question and answer session, which fostered better understanding between researchers. There were discussions among PIs on collaborative works between projects.

The meeting ended up in the wrap up from SPDs from core institutes (NIPR, JAMSTEC, and Hokkaido University), focusing around the collaboration across disciplines as well as the connection to society.

Further cooperation and engagement in the implementation of the ArCS project was confirmed.
