Third Debriefing Session of the Program for Overseas Visits by Young Researchers

Third debriefing session of the program for overseas visits by young researchers was held in the Yokohama Institute in JAMSTEC on 22 April 2019.

At this meeting, long-term visiting researchers (Koresawa, Tokuhiro, Nishizawa, Ishida) and short-term visiting researchers (Shigeyama, Sakamoto, Hataya) introduced their research activities and daily life in the overseas. Short-term visiting researchers who are working for company had panel discussion about the relationships between Japan and arctic regions from the commercial perspective.

Since we don’t have arctic area in our country, it is not easy for us to imagine the relationships between arctic. But after listening this debriefing session, high variety of presentations by researchers and workers realized us how the relationships between arctic and Japan is strong. You can feel the connection to the world just seeing dispatching destination, Europe, North America, Russia.

Personally, the variety of presentations of other study fields and commercial fields that I rarely have opportunities to hear inspired me a lot. Talking with speakers after the presentation session, about troubles and enjoyments of the research life to private life was also good experience.

I would like to make use of these valuable experiences gained through this dispatching project for future research and practical activities.

At the end, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for all supports to our research activities and to the preparation for this session.
