Observations on weather, wave height and drops - 1 (MIRAI Arctic cruise 2016: Theme 1)

Arctic cruise by oceanographic research vessel “MIRAI” (MR16-06) is conducted from 22 August - 5 October, 2016.

We departed from Hachinohe for Arctic Ocean on 22 August.
We encountered high wave associated with the passage of typhoon.
The R/V MIRAI will pass through Bering Sea, and arrive in Arctic Ocean around early in September.
In this cruise, we will carry out radiosonde observation and observe wave height using buoy.
This picture shows the waves in ice (WII) buoys.
